The Reliquary of St. Cosmas the Hermit

In 1058 a group of Venetian merchants on Crete discovered the reliquary of Cosmas the Hermite, a Cretan saint, and decided to take it home with them. It arrived in Venice on 20^th April 1058 and was placed in the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore, where it is kept to this day.
