“Christ is Risen”
"In moving on, the Military Commander (Andreas Nathenas), all the leaders of the guerrilla groups and the guerrillas made their way through the crowds that had thronged the streets in delirium, and met with expressions of joy from the townspeople, who showered them with flowers. People were running, dancing and kissing each other, shouting "Christ is risen!", while the church bells continued to ring out in joy. When everyone reached the Cathedral of St. Minas, the representatives of Allied Forces Headquarters in the Middle East arrived too: English Lieutenant Colonel Tom Dunbabin, Major Sandy Rendel and others. A service of thanksgiving was offered up, officiated by Archimandrite Evgenios Psalidakis, Representative of the Diocesan Throne."
