The "Saffron Gatherer" fresco of is the outstanding example of pictorial art from the proto-palatial period, while pottery is epitomized by magnificent examples of polychrome Kamares ware from the workshops at Knossos and Phaistos.

Pride of place is taken by eggshell pots, so named on account of their extremely thin walls.

The exquisitely tooled bee amulet from Malia is one of the finest examples of jewellery.

On account of their artistry, seals are also of interest - they feature a wide range of scenes or hieroglyphic symbols carved on small areas of stone.
