The Church of St. Titus
Very little is known about the construction of the church that served as the cathedral of the Cretan Church throughout the second Byzantine period. The only depiction of it is preserved on the well-known map of medieval Chandax drawn by C. Buondelmonti, though this dates to 1429, several centuries later. The church in question was destroyed prior to the mid 15th century and a new one, likewise dedicated to St. Titus, was erected in its place. This was inaugurated on 3rd January 1446.
