The Educational Society
In 1875, progressive, educated members of Heraklion society founded the "Educational Society in Heraklion, Crete", with secondary school principal Antonios Michelidakis as its president. The official inauguration of Society activities: "took place on 23rd March 1875, and President Antonios Michelidakis delivered a seminal address appropriate to the occasion" (Manolis E.
