Authors
Apart from Nikos Kazantzakis, several other Heraklion authors made their literary debut in this period, including Themos Kornaros, Minas Dimakis, Kostas Konstandourakis (under the pseudonym Aris Diktaios) and Velissarios Freris. Galatea Alexiou-Kazantzaki published her first collection of short stories, entitled 11am - 1pm, in Athens in 1927, followed by her novels Women (1933) and Men (1934). Her sister Elli began publishing in 1931, with a short story collection entitled Tough Struggles for a Little Life. Her novel, 3rd Christian Girls' School, came out in 1934.
