Childhood games

My father's house was very large. One side was on 1821 St. and the other on Katechaki St., which used to be called the Wide Alley.

We had a servant who would put up a sheet in the living room every afternoon and play shadow theatre. All the kids in the neighbourhood would get together and have a laugh. We also played ball, because we had a large courtyard and the kids from the neighbourhood would get together there almost every day.

We girls would also play godmothers and baptize our dolls... We'd decorate the yard with our toys round about. I can also remember a pond full of goldfish. Sometimes we would lie down and mum would come with the watering can and pretend to soak us, and daddy would take our picture.
