This Orthodox church lies off what is now Taxiarchou Markopoulou St. The first references to it in inventories of Chandax churches reveal that it was built in the second Byzantine period. It was rebuilt in its present form after suffering extensive earthquake damage in 1508. Architectural sculptures (capitals and columns) in the churchyard indicate the existence of the earlier church on the same site.
