After the fall of Chandax to the Turks, the departing Venetians took everything with them to Venice. Nevertheless, a number of wooden crates were left behind in the Armeria. About five of these survived until 1890, though they too were later destroyed. The crates were painted and decorated with the lion of St. Mark, symbol of Venetian sovereignty. Inside were several bundles of arrows, iron and glass projectiles, parts of weapons and cuirasses and other objects.
