The building that has come down to us was originally part of a larger town house on land owned by a bey named Rasich Asprakis. Built of stone and wood, with a timbered roof and pebbled courtyard, the house is one of the city's architectural treasures. The interior features elaborately decorated ceilings and built-in cupboards, with Turkish baths on the upper floor and a private drinking fountain in the courtyard below.
